Hayley shares her story during the times of Lockdown

One of our clients who live at a nursing home has trouble hearing and we were helping her in the past. It was business as usual. She lost her hearing devices and needed us to get her new devices. The biggest challenge at this time was due to COVID-19, the whole state was on alert with social isolation and all residential facilities were on lockdown. During this time we need to think outside the box to provide our hearing care. Isolation, social distancing, Face mask and talking on the phone can all be challenging for people suffering from hearing loss.

Our Collegue Hayley took this challenge to her tasks and wanted to go that extra mile to help the client (the manning audiology way). The challenge here is we needed to measure and fit the moulds. With the help of the care director and the nurse on duty we decided to do the fitting through the window.

Hayley explains “me outside providing the nurse verbal instruction over the phone and visual direction through the window. It all felt very funny but, it was extremely rewarding knowing our client still received the care she needed safely. Thank you Estia Health for being a part of this experience. Definitely one of the highlights of my career to date.”
