This appointment is for you, if you suspect of hearing loss or failed quick hearing screening. The appointment will be for 90 minutes. This is the most accurate and advanced stage of hearing assessment. This appointment includes:

Our audiologist will spend as much time as required to obtain the most important factors related to to hearing. This discussion may also include identifying some of your lifestyle issues due to the hearing loss. The more information our audiologist can obtain, the more accurate the results and then they will be able to find the right management solutions for you to meet your personal goals.
At Manning Audiology, we are equipped with advanced video Otoscopy. The Audiologist will inspect your ear canal to see if there is any blockage, due to wax or any other foreign materials. They will also check if your tympanic membrane (Ear drum) is healthy. While your audiologist examining your ears, you can see the same thing on the computer monitor.
With the computerized equipment, Audiologist will check the function of your middle ear in detail. Which will identify if there is any underlying middle ear infection or blockage.
Air conduction – Sound will be presented through the headphones in a sound treated booth. Audiologist will plot graphs of your ability to identify the softest sound at each frequency important for communication.
Bone conduction – A bone vibrator will be placed on your mastoid on each side and another trace of graph will be plotted to see the sound conduction through skull vibration. This helps to identify any other middle ear pathologies, otherwise goes unnoticed by any other tests.
Speech – A series of words will be presented at various intensity levels and you will be asked to repeat as much as you can. This test gives information about various sound processing activities takes place beyond the inner ear. If required, audiologist may administer few other tests to pin point any problem existing but not picked up by other tests.
Your audiologist will then accumulate all the results and discuss with you about the findings and will suggest the best management plan individualized for you.
